Plot:
The film follows the story of Helen Faraday, played by Marlene Dietrich, a nightclub singer who is married to Ned Faraday, a chemist portrayed by Herbert Marshall. Their peaceful family life is disrupted when Ned falls seriously ill with radiation poisoning. To save her husband, Helen is forced to make a difficult decision. She returns to her former life as a nightclub singer and travels to Paris to raise money for Ned's treatment. In Paris, she becomes involved with a wealthy benefactor, Nick Townsend, played by Cary Grant.
