This painting celebrates the Catholic tradition of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Instead of the traditional use of a crown, here I show Jesus, her Son, bestowing the honor with a kiss in reverence of his love for his mother. Christ is creator of all, shown here in the elements of fire, water, air...and Mary as one of his earthen creatures. Painfully shy as a child, Jen was unable to communicate with anyone outside her family except through drawing.
